Each year, the season, LENT, provides us with a unique opportunity to “return to the Lord with our whole hearts” (Joel 2:12). Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (March 5th). It is a sacred time for us each year to turn back – return – to the Lord by taking “up battle against spiritual evils…armed with the weapons of self-restraint,” namely, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (Roman Missal, Collect for Ash Wednesday).
