News From The Director
MUSIC PROGRAM is LOOKING for YOU to JOIN an ENSEMBLE
We are in need of individuals joining in the music program at Sacred Heart. The music program offers many different options for varied musical tastes and interests.
CHOIR (adults) are welcome to sing the 11am mass. This is the longest standing music ensemble that Sacred Heart offers. The organization has many delightful traditions and we need you to sing with us to continue the beautiful offerings available. One does not need to read music but it is a benefit in learning new material. Repertoire includes music from early musical traditions through current SATB offerings. Please come to a Wednesday evening rehearsal (7:45pm) - we need you!
INSTRUMENTATLISTS (teens & adults) for Musica Dei (orchestra) which is at the 4pm mass during the months of November, December and during the Lenten Season through Easter. Students leave for college so that we are in constant need of recruitments!
TEEN SINGERS (singers from 11-22 years) are welcome to join in this organization; which sings with the orchestra (upcoming Lenten/Easter). As with the instrumentalists - students leave the area for varied reasons and there is always a need to replenish!
CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE (adults) offers a variety of traditional and contemporary Christian charts for the 9:30am mass. Singers are welcome to join!! Come to a 6:15pm Wednesday rehearsal.
Hello! My name is Matthew Goss, and I am excited to become your new Director of Music this August. I was bom and raised in Charleston, South Carolina and have been studying music, more specifically piano, since the age of four. I was brought up in a Catholic church, Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church on Sullivan's Island, and became involved in the music ministry there at an early age where I began formal organ instruction. I obtained a Masters in Music from University of South Carolina and a Advanced Music Studies Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. While in Pittsburgh, I was Organist at Ascension Catholic Church in Ingram and St. John the Baptist Church in Plum. I know that I have big shoes to fill, but I am confident that with your help we can maintain and develop the music ministry here at Sacred Heart Church. I am looking forward to collaborating with all individuals (cantors, instrumentalists, choir members, etc.) who are already involved or who would like to be involved in the music ministry. I look forward to my move up to Cicero, and am excited to work with and meet everyone!
Thank you and God Bless!
