News From The Director
MUSIC PROGRAM is LOOKING for YOU to JOIN an ENSEMBLE
We are in need of individuals joining in the music program at Sacred Heart. The music program offers many different options for varied musical tastes and interests.
CHOIR (adults) are welcome to sing the 11am mass. This is the longest standing music ensemble that Sacred Heart offers. The organization has many delightful traditions and we need you to sing with us to continue the beautiful offerings available. One does not need to read music but it is a benefit in learning new material. Repertoire includes music from early musical traditions through current SATB offerings. Please come to a Wednesday evening rehearsal (7:45pm) - we need you!
INSTRUMENTATLISTS (teens & adults) for Musica Dei (orchestra) which is at the 4pm mass during the months of November, December and during the Lenten Season through Easter. Students leave for college so that we are in constant need of recruitments!
TEEN SINGERS (singers from 11-22 years) are welcome to join in this organization; which sings with the orchestra (upcoming Lenten/Easter). As with the instrumentalists - students leave the area for varied reasons and there is always a need to replenish!
CONTEMPORARY ENSEMBLE (adults) offers a variety of traditional and contemporary Christian charts for the 9:30am mass. Singers are welcome to join!! Come to a 6:15pm Wednesday rehearsal.
A Deserving RestBeginning in 1982 at St. Joseph's in Oswego and since 1992 here at Sacred Heart, Donna Exline has worked every holiday and every weekend. Over the years Donna has rarely missed a weekend's work. If you know Donna, what she does she doesn't consider work, but heart-felt ministry. Her one motivating desire is to help, through her gift of music, bring others closer to Jesus. After 35 years working in the ministry, Donna has decided to retire as our Director of Music Ministry As a mother and grandmother, and with one of her sons living across the country, she decided it was time to spend more time with family and extended family.
Donna has left some big shoes to fill, but I can understand her desire to be present to her family in a way that is simply impossible with her duties and responsibilities at Sacred Heart.
Our search for a new director is underway. Donna has graciously extended an offer to help in this process. Because this will be a very difficult position to fill, I gratefully appreciate her expertise and experience. Please pray that we find that person that God desires and continues the great ministry that Donna has created.
